Mr. Frank Burton

Johnston, SC:  Mr. Frank Burton, 69, of 197 Burton Road, the husband of Cherry Jones Burton, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017 in MUSC Hospital, Charleston, SC.

He was born in Saluda, SC, on March 5, 1948, son of the late Elijah and Catherine Pixley Burton.  

He received his education in the public schools of Saluda County, South Carolina, graduating from Riverside High School in 1968.

At an early age, he joined the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.  He was a retired employe of Trantex.  Frank was married to Cherry Jones Burton and this union was blessed with two children.  Frank was a good provider for his family and a very good cook.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by siblings, Chris Burton, Eugene Burton, J. B. Burton, Eddie Lou Pugh and Mary H. Padgett.

He is survived by; his wife, Cherry J. Burton of the home; son, Franklin A. Burton of Charlotte, NC, daughter, April (Vashon) Brown of Johnston, SC; brothers, Claude (Virginia) Burton and Elijah Jr. (Margaret) Burton both of Johnston, SC and Earnest Burton of St. Albany, NY; sisters, Reverend Viola (Howard) Pugh and Reverend Annie Bell Grant both of Johnston, SC; two grandchildren, Jabori Brown of Johnston, SC and Kennedi Burton of Charlotte, NC; god-child, Dayona Smith, Ridge Spring, SC; sister-in-law, Maggie Burton of Johnston, SC; brother-in-law, Sam Jones of New York; and a host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and sorrowing friends.

Celebration of Life will be 1 p.m. Saturday, 12/16/17 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Lewis Burt. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Garden.  The body will be placed in the church at Noon.

Viewing will be 1-8 Friday at the funeral home.
