Mr. Raymond Nelson, Sr.

Saluda, SC:  Mr. Raymond Nelson, Sr., the husband of Joann Gallman Nelson, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017, in Saluda Nursing Center.

He was born in Saluda County, SC, son of the late Lucinda Nelson Scurry and the late Willie Wallace. He is survived by his wife, Joann G. Nelson of Saluda, SC; three sons, Bennie K. N. Nelson and Raymond Nelson, Jr. of Saluda, SC and Ira K. Nelson of Edgefield, SC; daughter, Roxie Ann (Solomon) Williams of Prosperity, SC; stepsons, Vincent L. Gallman and Dexter M. Gallman both of Newberry, SC; brother, Joseph Nelson, Batesburg, SC; sister, Essie Nelson, Greenwood, SC; four grandchildren, Lakosha, Lakresha, Raymond III and Tyler; 1 brother-in-law, 3 sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews;  and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by siblings, Willie F. Nelson, Ira Paul Nelson, Daisy L. Scurry, Stella N. Alewine, Nora Anderson and Roy Wallace.

Homegoing Celebration will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pleasant Hill Baptist  Church conducted by the pastor, Reverend Richard Jackson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.

Public viewing will be 3:30-8:00 pm Sunday at the funeral Home and also monday 9 am - 12 pm at the funeral home.
