Reverend Robert Livingston, Sr. Obituary

Reverend Robert James Livingston Sr. age 78 from Saluda, SC passed away peacefully on March 24, 2024 at Self Regional Medical Center, surrounded by loved ones. When called home, he was preceded by his father and mother Willie and Vastyne Livingston and his son Lt. Col. Robert James Livingston Jr. Robert was born in Washington, DC on January 25th, 1946 and proceeded to live a full and vibrant life, touching the hearts of all who knew him.

At an early age he was encouraged to attend St. Paul Baptist Church in Saluda, SC. After marriage he attended Young Mt Zion Baptist Church in Chappells, SC with his beautiful wife Ida Livingston of 56 years. He served as the Chairman of the Deacon Board before becoming the Pastor of Young Mt. Zion Baptist Church and he retired from pastoring in 2011. During his walk with the Lord and Pastoring, he attended Erskine Theological Seminary School to become better equip to preach God's Word and to tell God's people about the Goodness of God.

Robert graduated from Riverside High School in 1964. After he graduated he enlisted into the United States Army where he served his country with dedication and sacrifice. During his service in Vietnam, Robert displayed remarkable bravery and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in combat. He also received several other commendations and medals for his exemplary service. Robert worked as an electrical clerk at Greenwood Supply Co. where he retired in 2002. 

Robert will be deeply missed by his wife Ida Livingston, his son Travis (Nichola) Livingston of Anderson, SC, his daughter Ebony(Marcus) Jones of Chapin, SC, eight grandchildren: Sina (Evin) Sims, Zaire Livingston, Amber Livingston, Lauren Livingston, Faith Livingston, Tyler Jones, Ethan Jones ,Greyson Jones and three great grandchildren Jaziyah Quarles, Nolan Sims and Nyla Sims; one niece, Annie Belle Butler; and a host of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

A Celebration of his Life will be at 10 a.m. Thursday 3/28/24 at Young Mt. Zion Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery with military honors. The body will be placed in the church at 9 a.m.

Viewing will be 12-6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home..

The family is at the home.
