Cressie Bell Brooks
Saluda, SC: Cressie Bell Brooks of 117 Tranquil Lane entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Saluda County, South Carolina, on March 23, 1952, daughter of the late Thelma Chapman.
She received her education in the public schools of Saluda County, South Carolina where she was a 1971 graduate of Hollywood High School.
At an early age, she joined the Pine Pleasant CME Church where she was a faithful member. She served as Stewardess, Missionary and a member of the Choir. She was also a member of the WHAS #40 and the Ever-Ready Food Club.
Cressie was very industrious. She once was employed by the Shirt Plant, Knight's Industry and her last employment was in the Dietary Department - Saluda Nursing Center where she retired after many years of service. Some of her hobbies were cooking, shopping and talking on the telephone. She was a very likable person with a beautiful smile and loved to dress well and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her mother, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Henry Bell Chapman.

Brooks of Johnston, SC; stepson, Stanley (Folanda) Brooks of Saluda, SC; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren; sister, Betty (Toney) Minick of Saluda, SC; daughter-in-law, Kim Brooks of Saluda, SC; special aunts and uncles, Roy and Brenda Chapman of Mechanicsville, VA, Linda Chapman of Hopkins, SC and Ralph (Thelma) Harp of Saluda, SC; four aunts and two uncles; three sister-in-law and one brother-in-law; and niece, four nephew, other relatives, extended family and sorrowing friends.
A Celebration of Her Life will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Pine Pleasant CME Church with the pastor Reverend Billy Thompson, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 12 o'clock.
Public viewing will be 1-8 p.m.Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family will be receiving family and friends at the home Sunday 12-6 p.m. and on Monday 3-7 p.m.is at the home.
