Dorothy Harry Obituary

Stone Mountain, GA: Dorothy Delois Goode Harry, affectionately called “Nit”, was born on April 12, 1953, in Saluda, South Carolina, the second daughter and second oldest of five children (Shirley deceased) of the late Ezekiel Goode Jr. and Naomi Butler Goode.
 

Dorothy departed this life among family members on January 15, 2020.Dorothy grew up in a loving and Christian home and gave her life to Christ at an early age. She became a member of Pine Pleasant Baptist Church of Ninety Six, South Carolina at the age of 12 and maintained membership up until her homegoing.
 

Dorothy attended the Ninety Six District schools and graduated from NinetySix High School in 1971. She attended Self Memorial School of Radiology and graduated in 1974. In August 1980, Dorothy also earned an Associate's degree in Health Sciences (Radiologic Technology) from Piedmont Technical College.

Dorothy married William Harry (Lieutenant Colonel Retired) on December 27, 1980, later making Stone Mountain, Georgia, their home. Together, Dorothy and William raised two children, Travis Harry of Smyrna, Georgia, and Deanna Harry of Decatur, Georgia.
 

Dorothy’s professional life was that of service to others as a radiology technician and later as a mammography technician. As an active member of Saint Philip A.M.E Church in Decatur, Georgia, Dorothy volunteered in the Sunday school ministry as a preschool teacher and briefly with the Women’s Ministry. Dorothy had a myriad of interests. She loved politics, flowers, and cooking, but had a niche for interior decorating and do-it-yourself projects with her daughter. She always took great pride in her immaculate home and gardening skills.

In passing on to her Heavenly home, Dorothy leaves to cherish her sweet memoriesher husband William Harry and her two children Travis (Erica) and Deanna; two granddaughters, Laila Naomi Harry and Aria Simone Harry; and her siblings Rachel (Benjamin) Glover of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Randolph (Thomasenia) Goode of Ninety Six, South Carolina, Ezekiel (Benita) Goode III of Ninety Six, South Carolina, and God sister Stacy Adams of Charlotte, North Carolina; one uncle, John Butler, and four aunts, Pauline Carroll, Daisy Goode, Viola Butler, Anne Butler; and cousin/aunt Gladys Jabber. She also leaves behind living in-laws Cleotha (Charlene) Harry, Rosa Lee White, Annie (Willie) Bishop, Emma Harry, Thelma Harry, Gladys Harry, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.

A Celebration of her Life will be held 11 a.m. at Pine Pleasant Baptist Church, Ninety Six, SC. Reverend Raymond Adams will be Eulogist and Reverend Willie Cannady will be presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
