Mrs. Florine Mason

Saluda, SC:  Mrs. Florine of 1260 Bonham Road, the wife of Seymour Mason, passed on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at her home.

She was born in Batesburg, SC, April 23, 1924, daughter of the late Frank and Bessie Tolen Spann. 

She received her education in the public schools of Batesburg, South Carolina.

At an early age, she moved to Kenbridge, Virginia and later she moved to New York where she remained and retired and move to Saluda, SC in 2001. She was married to the late Preston Morris and to this union two children were born. Later in life she married to Seymour Mason.

Early in life she joined Peace Missionary of Christ in Jamaica. She was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost under the leadership of Reverend Gary Garrett. She became a license Missionary in July 1, 1978. She also became a license minister under the leadership of Bishop Edward Echols, November 21, 1993, at Echols Temper Pentecostal Church and after moving to Saluda, SC, she became a member of Bible Way of Saluda and she was a member of the WHAS #126 and Mine Creek Burial Society. During her working life she was a license Caregiver of Adult staying in her home.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by; son, Franklin D. Morris, siblings, William Spann, Rodella Jackson and Almona Blakney; grandchildren, Rochelle Morris and Francis Joseph.

Those left to cherish and honor her life; her devoted husband, Seymour Mason of the home; daughter, Christine Morris-Bretto of Jamaica, NY, step daughter Linda Mason Robinson of Newark, NJ; 6 grandchildren, Donnie Williams, Bronx, NY, Duane Morris Jamaica, NY, Franklin Holmes, New Jersey, Anthony (Tamara) Holmes, Batesburg,  SC, Maurice Holmes, Brooklyn, NY; great granddaughter, Keana Morris-Baylor (Kentrell) of Saluda, SC and her full-time caregiver; other great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.

Celebration of Life will be 1 p.m. Thursday 8/9/18 at Bible Way of Saluda conducted by Reverend Theodore Collins and burial will follow in Penn Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.  The body will be placed in the church at 12 o'clock. 

Viewing will be 1-7 p.m. Wednesday, 8/8/18 at the funeral home.
