Mrs. Hazell Griffin Andrews

Johnston, SC: Mrs. Hazell Pixley Griffin Andrews 92,  of 42 Warren Road, passed away Thursday evening, November 29, 2018 at her residence.

She was born in Saluda County, SC, July 7, 1926, daughter of the late Christine Pixley Butler. She was a faithful member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where she served as a member of the Missionary, Senior Choir, Helping Hands Ministry, Christmas Saving Club, Quilting Club and the Food Ministry.

She was first married to P L Griffin, Sr. who preceded her in death. To this union four children were born. Later she married to Mr. Willie James Andrews.

She worked as a caregiver and a domestic worker during her working life. She loved to cook and shop.

She leaves to mourn her passing; her husband, Willie James Andrews of Saluda, SC (SNC); her children, Rev. Dr. P L (Charlotte) Griffin, Jr. of Clumbia, SC, L J Griffin of the home, Grace (Dennis) Scurry, Johnston, SC and Raymond Griffin, Edgefield, SC; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; stepchildren, Curtis Andrews, Washington, DC, John L. Andrews, Calvert, MD and Nora McCann, Capitol Heights, MD; brother, Larry (Emmie) Harling, Norristown, PA; sister-in-law, Pauline Franklin, McCormick, SC; nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.

A Celebration of Her Life will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, 12/5/2018 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. PL Griffin, Jr. - Eulogist and Rev. Lewis Burt - Presiding and others assisting. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

Viewing 1-8 p.m. Tuesday 12/4/18 at the funeral home.

The family is at the home of her daughter, Grace (Dennis) Scurry, 310 Virginia Street, Johnston, SC.
