Herbert Lanier
Troy, SC: Herbert (Bounce) Lanier, 94, of 9905 Highway 25 South the widower of Everlene Settles Lanier slept away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 to claim his room in Paradise, at his home after declining health.
He was born in Edgefield County, SC, son of the late Wade and Anna Martin Lanier. He received his education in the public schools of Edgefield County, South Carolina. At an early age he joined the Springfield Baptist Church. He was a retired self-employed farmer and pulpwood operator. He served his country in the US Army during World War II.
He was the last survivor of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Everlene S. Lanier, children, Herbert Lanier, Jr., Hubert Fisher, Geraldine F. McDuffie and Jacqueline L. Murcier Syrkett and siblings, Wade Lanier, Jr., Carl Lanier, Eddie Lanier, James Lanier, Willie Eva Lanier Ryans and Maggie Lanier Settles.
He leaves to honor and cherish his precious memory; five sons, Calvin (Catherine) Lanier and Willie Thomas Lanier both of Troy, SC, Jeffery (Janeen) Lanier of College Park, GA, Dennis Lanier of Lithonia, GA, Eric (Glenene) Lanier of Stone Mountain, GA; four daughters, Sylvia (Robert) Bell of McCormick, SC, Diana Lanier (Anthony) Smith of Parrish, FLA, Valerie Gale (Anthony) Armstrong of Stockbridge, GA and Cassandra (Wallace) Whitfield of Southfield, MI; 25 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 20 great-great grands; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends who will miss him dearly.
The family is at the home.
