Mr. Johnnie Williams
Saluda, SC: Mr. Johnnie Williams, 90, of 439 Pine Grove Road, the widower of Liza Culbreath Williams, passed into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at his home after declining health.
He was born in Edgefield County, South Carolina, August 4, 1928, son of the late Jonah and Suzanna Whitlock Williams.
Early in life he joined Jeter Baptist Church and after his marriage to Liza Culbreath Williams he became a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist where served faithful. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Male Chorus, Sr/Gospel Choir and the Food Ministry. He was a retired employee of Monsanto (Ascend) where he worked many years. The union of he and Liza was blessed with six children.
He was a great husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and church member and he will be dearly missed by all.
He was the last survivor of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings, Tommy Williams and Ellie Lue Cromely.
Leaving to cherish and honor his memory; four daughters, Mary (Melvin) Syphertt, Catherine (Larry) Jenkins, Johnnie (Johnny) Morrow and Gloria Williams all of Columbia, SC; two sons, Roosevelt (Saundra) Williams and Earlvin (Brenda) Williams both of Saluda, SC; nine grandchildren, sixteen great grands; a close friend, Louise H. Pope of Saluda, SC; sisters-in-law, Helen Jerry, Ridge Spring, Cora Lee Dozier, Winter Garden, FLA and Mattie B. Ross of Aiken, SC; brother-in-law, Willie James (Annette) Culbreath of Ward, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family and sorrowing friends.
A Celebration of His Life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Richard Jackson. Burial will follow in the church. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
Public viewing will be 1-7 p.m. Friday, 1/18/19 at the funeral home.
