Marshall Butler

Saluda, SC:  Marchell Butler, 77, the widower of Mary Helen Mosley Butler, passed away Monday morning, August 12, 2019, in the Hospice House of the Piedmont, Greenwood, SC.

He was born in Saluda County, June 15, 1942, son of the late James Bud Butler and the late Seebell Black Butler. He received his education in the public schools of Saluda County, South Carolina.

At an early age, he joined the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where he was a faithful member where he was a member of Mt. Calvary All Male Chorus. He was a member of the Young Men of Honor. He was retired from International Paper where he worked for many years. He was married to Mary Helen Mosley Butler who preceded him in death. This union was blessed with six children, son, Marshall Butler, Jr. preceded him in death.

In addition to his parents, wife and son, he was also preceded in death by; siblings, James D. Butler, Albert Butler and Annie Ruth Stevens.

Leaving to honor and cherish his memory; two sons, Micheal (Carletta) Lundy, Baldenburg, MD and Albert Mosley, Jr. of the home; Felisha (Mark) Phillips and Vicky (Tyrone) Young both of Johnston, SC and Shelia Pugh of Saluda, SC; twenty-two grandchildren, two great grandchildren; brothers, Johnny Butler (SNC), Saluda, SC, Henry (Doris) Butler and Joe Lewis (Patricia) Butler both of Johnston, SC; sister, Leathy Key of Saluda, SC; sisters-in-law, Annie Mae Butler, Peggy Butler and Gale Mosley; brothers-in-law, Albert Mosley and James Mosley; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.

Homegoing services will be 11 a.m. Friday 8/16/19 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church conducted by the pastor, Reverend Lewis Burt.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. 

Public viewing will be 1-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
