Rutherford, NJ:   Alice Mary (Bell) Dean was born April 24, 1921 in Johnston, SC to the Nelson Bell and Annie Daniel Bell.

At an early age she accepted Christ as her Savior, and united with the Mine Creek Baptist Church in Saluda, South Carolina, where she met a married her husband, Archie Fredrick Dean. 

Alice and Archie soon moved North, settling in Brooklyn, New York for a while with family, and later moving to Hempstead, New York, before moving to Passaic, New Jersey. 

Upon arriving in Passaic, Alice found employment in the Textile Industry. After starting a family, she became a trusted and revered domestic home care provider.

Alice and her family relocated to Rutherford, New in 1955. During her long residency in Rutherford, she was a pillar in the community, meeting all she could, never refusing friendship. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Passaic, but spent her years attending the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church.
She departed this life on March 17, 2017 at home in Rutherford, New Jersey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie f. Dean.

She leaves to cherish precious memories, her children, Daniel J. Dean of Milford, Mass., Archie F. Dean, Jr. and Richard Dean of Rutherford, New Jersey, and Janet Dean Wilcox of Columbia, Maryland; her grandchildren, Misty Dean Turner, Stephanie Dean Norris, Jasmin Wilcox Turner and Naomi Wilcox; her great grandchildren, Anthony Norris, Alexander Turner and Zoe Josephine Turner; also many nieces and nephews in Columbia, South Carolina, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., and Texas.

Graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Mine Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 1799 Johnston Highway, Saluda, SC.

Butler and Sons Funeral Home of Saluda, SC and Braggs Funeral Home of Paterson, New Jersey are assisting the Dean Family in the Final Services.
