Augustus Glover, Jr. Obituary

Columbia, SC:  Augustus (Koot) Glover, Jr. of 8 Candlewood Lane, transition into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 17, at Lexington Medical Center.

He was born in Saluda SC, son of the late Augustus and Sallie Lou Glover. He joined the Lockhart Baptist Church at an early age where he once sang in the Gospel Choir and Usher Board.  He graduated in 1963 from Riverside High School. He was married to Annie Lee Green Glover who preceded him in death.

He joined the United States Army and did 2 tours in the Vietnam War, he was wounded during the second tour and received the “Purple Heart.” He also did tours in Germany. He later returned Columbia, SC where he was a Drill Sargent at Fort Jackson. He taught Auto Mechanics for two years at Midlands Technical College in the 70's. After his retirement, he owned and operated a Transmission Shop Columbia in the 80's and later in Bradenton, FL in the 90's. He was still active doing mechanic work until his health decline.

He was a loveable person and never met a stranger. He loved to play piano and guitar. Early in life he was a part of the group called "Rhythm Five". 

He will be dearly missed by daughters Lynestra Glover of the home, Jamie Glover of Hopkins SC, Shankisha (Tony) Sizemore of Bradenton FL, and a son Joshua (Persia) Glover of Columbia SC. 6 grandchildren Genesis Porch, Joshua Porch, Noel Porch, Golda Porch and Kyla Glover all of Columbia SC and Anthony Sizemore of Bradenton FL.  One sister Lizzie G (Carnell) Williams of Rosalyn PA, one brother Hampton Glover of Gaston SC and one brother-in-law Tommy Burt of Saluda SC. A special niece reared in the home Stephanie Quarles of West Columbia SC. He was loved by all will be dearly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, his extended families and sorrowing friends.

In addition to her his parents, he was also preceded by his wife; son Michael Glover, siblings Bennie F Henley, Vera G Burt, Hannah G Jackson, Lark Glover, Lincoln Glover, Laura Glover, and Rosetta Glover. A special niece reared in the home Jacqueline A Glover.

The family is at the home.
