The angels quietly escorted Barbara J. Holloway home on Sunday, February 9, 2025. She was born March 11, 1944, to the late Curtis B. Holloway and Lucille Herrin Holloway in Saluda County. She confessed her life to Christ at an early age, and she was baptized at Rock Hill Baptist Church as part of the Christian faith.
Barbara graduated from Riverside High School and attended beauty school in Augusta, Georgia, where she received her aesthetician license. Barbara moved to Philadelphia, PA, with the plan of becoming a beauty consultant. In Philadelphia, she went on to earn an Accounting Certificate, where she worked as an Accountant before returning to South Carolina. After moving back to Columbia, SC, she worked for Pearce-Young-Angel. After several years of working for the private sector, she opened her own boutique, Babette’s, and styled many socialites.
Barbara's love for beauty was evident in everything she did. She was definitely a fashionista and had an eye for style that she exhibited throughout her life. Her fashion sense was impeccable, and she always "put herself together". Music filled her heart, bringing joy and inspiration to her days. She loved contemporary jazz and attended jazz festivals with friends and family. She spent late nights watching NBA basketball games.
In her last precious days with us, she resided in Mitchellville, MD for over a year.
She was preceded in death by her father, Curtis B. Holloway and mother Lucille Herrin Holloway, sister, Marian Holloway Jones; brother-in-law, John Mack (Buck) Jones and Cleveland Pope. Left to cherish the loving memories of Barbara are a sister, Louise Pope, Saluda; four nieces and one nephew, Debbie Davis (Late Ken Davis) of Ridge Spring, SC; Linda Steele (LeRoy) of Augusta, GA; Cleveland Pope of Atlanta, GA; Jacqueline Jones-Peters and Meshell Jones-Peeler (Stephen) of Mitchellville, MD. One great-niece and three great-nephews: Kirby Corbitt (Derrick) of Graniteville, SC; Ricky Peters, Nicholas Peters, and Eric Peeler of Mitchellville, MD. She has two great-great-nieces and a host of cousins and friends.
