Benjamin was born in Edgefield, SC, on March 18, 1939, youngest son of the late Lonnie and Julia Mathis Gordon. He was a member of Pleasant Lane Baptist Church. He was educated in Edgefield County Public Schools. He worked in the family's pulpwood business and the Lumber Company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Willie Mae Simmons.
Benjamin was affectionately called "Bee" by his family and friends and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves to honor and cherish his memory; devoted godson, Ricky Davis of Edgefield, SC; sister, Thomasina Senior of Aiken, SC; brothers, Reverend Ernest (Ruth) Gordon, Lonnie (Betty) Gordon, Jr. and Wilbur (Maggie) Gordon all of Edgefield, SC and Raymond Gordon of North Augusta, SC; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Pleasant Lane Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Melvin Gordon, Eulogist and Reverend Keith Gordon, presiding and other assisting. The body will be placed in the church at 12 p.m.
Viewing will be 1-6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of his brother, Wilbur (Maggie) Gordon, 54 Gordontown Road, Edgefield, SC. They are not receiving visitors due to COVID 19, only for drop-off. You can reach the family at 803-637-6720.
