Saluda, SC:  Bessie Mae Johnson, 73, transition from this life into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 in Saluda Nursing Center after declining health.

She was born in Lexington County, SC, February 14, 1950, daughter of the late Purvis and Anna Morris Johnson Edwards. She was a member of Penn Creek Bapitst Church. Bessie Mae was the mother of two children and her son preceded her in death.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, George Johnson, Jr.; two brothers, Henry Fisher and Jimmy Fisher; and sister, Gertrude Mathis.

She leaves to honor and cherish her memory, her daughter, Audrey Johnson and two grandchildren, J. C. Johnson and George Johnson all of Johnston, SC; brother, David Johnson of Saluda, SC; dear friend, Robert Clark of Saluda, SC; two nieces, Martha Bletcher of Saluda, and Carolyn Sulton of High Point, NC; special great nephew, Jacob Herman of Saluda, SC and a special great niece, Julia Herman of Saluda, SC; and a host of other great nieces and great nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Graveside Service to Celebrate her Life will be held 12:30 P.M. Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Penn Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.  The body will be placed at the cemetery at 12 p.m.

Family viewing will be 1-2 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023 and public viewing will be 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family is receiving friends at the home of Julia Herman, 200 Hill Drive, Saluda, SC.
