Bishop Nick Williams Obituary

Bishop Nick Williams, the widower of the late Mary Evelyn Wilson Williams, entered into eternal rest Thursday morning, October 16, 2025, at the home of his sister-in-law, Alma Williams, 205 Adams Road, Edgefield, SC, after declining health.

He was born in Edgefield, SC, October 29, 1934, son of the late Nicodemus and Ruby Hollingworth Williams. He received his education in the public schools of Edgefield County, South Carolina. He moved to New York early in life and met and married the love of his life Mary Evelyn Wilson Williams. He worked as a chef at a local nursing home until he retired after forty plus years and he and his wife moved to South Carolina and brought a home in Ridge Spring, SC. They were married for thirty-three years, she passed away, May 24, 2016. He was a member of Harts Spring Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Sylvia Walker and Verna Williams both of Brooklyn, NY;  sisters, Fannie Jones of Greenwood, SC and Eva Williams of Brooklyn, NY; brother, Minister Jesse (Brenda) Williams of Saluda, SC; a devoted sister-in-law, Alma Williams and her family of Edgefield, SC;  Step-son, Larry Darnell Davis of Suffolk Virginia; adopted children, James Williams of Brooklyn New York, Lillie Bell Robinson of New York, Julius Williams, Brooklyn New York, Bianca Claxton, Charlotte North Carolina and Jeffrey Williams, Manhattan New York; Two grandchildren of which they raised, Isaac Davis of Columbia South Carolina and Rhonda Davis - deceased; 20 grandchildren and many great grand's; nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by siblings, George W. Williams, Sarah Williams, Ruby M. Dobbs, Johnny Williams, Charlie Williams, Louis Williams, and Martha Lawson; stepchildren, McKinley Davis, Michael T. Davis and Myra Michelle Davis-Sutherland.

The family is at the home of Alma Williams.
