Brenda Ann Norris Mobley, the daughter of the late Vera Jenkins and June Oscar Jenkins, and birth father, Billy Culbreath, was born in Saluda, South Carolina, on July 4, 1953. She was married to Johnny Mobley Jr, who preceded her in death.
Brenda transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home, Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Emory University, Atlanta, GA.
At an early age, she gave her life to God and was baptized, becoming a member of Bethlehem Baptist Missionary Church. She was a faithful member serving as a deaconess, president of the Pastor’s Aid Committee, a member of the gospel choir, and participated in whatever was asked of her. She loved her church family and remained a member until her death.
Brenda received her education in Saluda, South Carolina. She attended Riverside and Saluda High Schools. Later in her life, after ensuring the education of her daughters, she decided to pursue further education at Piedmont Technical College and Columbia College, where she earned her associate and bachelor’s degrees, respectively, in Human Services.
She had a love for helping people. She had several passions, including baking cakes to simply give away to others, gardening, home and event decor, and doing whatever she could for people without anything in return but the smiles on their faces. She always kept a smile on her face, too, no matter what, and she loved life. She would always say that she wanted to see all that God had made in this world, so she developed a love for traveling. She would say that she always kept a bag packed and ready to go. Just like her birthday (July Fourth) she was a firecracker ready to experience life.
Brenda leaves behind three daughters who will always love and cherish the memory of their mother: Angela Norris (Freddie Jr.) Guinyard of Lithonia, GA; Onekia Mobley of Covington, GA; Takeyia Mobley of Greenwood, SC, and three grandchildren: Freddie III, Michael and Morgan Guinyard of Lithonia, GA., sisters Vanessa Jarvis (Andy) of Columbia, SC, Connie Culbreath of Miami, Florida, Loretta Culbreath McCormick, SC, Earnestine Culbreath, of Patterson, NJ. Brothers Oscar E. Jenkins of Columbia, SC, James (Valerie) Jenkins, and Richard (Jacqueline) Jenkins of Saluda, SC, Columbia, SC, Billy Jr., and Bruce Culbreath of Patterson, NJ. She leaves six sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, 1 great niece, two aunts, two uncles, and many extended family members. Brenda had many close friends who remained by her side for many years.
She has requested that if you have any tears to shed, let them be tears of joy, not sorrow. Another request is for everyone, on this day, to enjoy good soul food (potato salad a must), play some good old soul music, and have a great time.
The family requests that no videos, pictures, or other media be taken before, during, or after the service, including at the interment.
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday 4-7 pm at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Jenkins, (brother) 2000 Butler Road, Saluda, SC 29138
Please pray for the family as they go through their hour of bereavement.
