Cathy Etheredge
Cathy S. Etheredge, a native of Saluda County, was born on April 14, 1960 and lived a life filled with love, generosity, service, and an unwavering devotion to the Lord. Cathy was rooted in her faith and extended the same grace, mercy, and compassion that she believed God gave to her.
On Monday, November 23, 2020 God called her home to Heaven. Those that knew Cathy know this: She loved our Lord and Savior. Although all of our hearts are heavy with grief, we rejoice in knowing that she is resting with Jesus and that we will see her again in Heaven.
Cathy earned her high school diploma at Saluda High School, Class of 1978. She started a decorated career in law enforcement soon after high school and served for over 40 years. Cathy’s friends and colleagues were all witness to her commitment for sharing the love of God, which was exemplified daily. At the present time, Cathy was a Sergeant of the Professional Standards Division at Lexington County Sherriff’s Department. Along with one of her best friends, Cathy ventured into entrepreneurship as the owner and operator of Heavenly Caterers.
Cathy’s family will cherish fond memories and will hold her forever in their hearts. As a loving mother of two children, Brandon Etheredge and Jonathan Etheredge, she instilled strong life principles and Christian values. Among the greatest joys of her life were being a mother to her boys and becoming a grandmother to her thirteen grandchildren. Cathy is also survived by her mother, Sallie Coleman. One sibling, Jeffery Coleman. A daughter-in-law, LaTasha Etheredge. five aunts and five uncles, one niece, and a host of friends and loved ones.
“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” – Matthew 22:37-40
Cathy’s love for family, friends, and to God was unconditional. To Cathy, we were all her neighbor, and anyone that knew Cathy loved her and will cherish her memory forever.
