Saluda, SC: Clarence Elvis (Skeet) Parks, 67, departed this life on Sunday morning, January 12, 2025 in Saluda Nursing Center and Rehab.
He was born in Edgefield, South Carolina, February 3. 1957. son of Willie Bland and the late Addie Parks Cartledge. He was reared in the home of his maternal grandmother, the late Alma Peterson Parks. He received his education the the public schools of Edgefield County, SC, where he graduated from Strom Thurmond High School in 1975 and during his time in high school he drove a school bus.. At an early age, he joined Liberty Spring Baptist Church and later in life he served under watch care at Upper Mt. Moriah Baptist Church where he served as an Usher and Choir Member. He was also a member of the Men Aide Society.
During his working life, he worked at the Greenwood Mills and later in life he worked in the Logging Industry. He was a dedicated fan of the Washington Redskins now (The Washington Commanders).
Skeet as he was affectionately called touched many lives and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his mother, grandmother, stepfather Rufus Cartledge; he was also preceded in death by siblings, Arthur Lee Parks, JoAnn Simpkins and Willie E. Bland.
Precious memories will linger on in the hearts and minds of; his father, Willie (Bae) Bland of Washington, DC; sons, Clarence T. Parks of Woodbridge, VA, Devontae Adams of Edgefield, SC, Damien Dennis of Ridge Spring, SC; daughter Leandra Parks Payne of Trenton, SC; like a step-mother, Opal Cartledge of Washington, DC; four grandchildren; brother, Dexter (Mary) Cartledge of Hephzibah, GA and Allan Trowell of Washington, DC; sisters, Dorothy M. Bland and Tamika Trowell/Carolyn Barber of Washington, DC; aunts, Almastine P. Butler, Saluda, SC, Janie Parks, Washington, DC, and Donna Parks, McCormick, SC; uncles, Russell Parks, McCormick, SC and MacArthur (Della) Parks, Martinez, GA; one great aunt, Elease Parks of McCormick, SC; close 1st cousin, Priscilla (Al) Witt of Charlotte, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, other close relatives and sorrowing friends.
The family will receive family and friends at his aunt, Almastine Butler 310 N. Bouknight Ferry Road, Saluda, SC on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 3-5 p,m.
