Mr. Curtis Lorick
Saluda, SC: Mr. Curtis, 86, of 593 Boulder Drive, the husband of Lanie Mae Stevens Lorick, passed away at his home on Saturday, June 13, 2020.
He was born in Saluda County, SC, on March 26, 1934, son of the late Henry and Margaret Springs Lorick. He received his education in the public schools of Saluda County, SC.
At an early age, he joined the Rock Hill Baptist Church where he served faithfully. He was a Deacon, a member of Rock Hill Male Chorus and the Rock Hill Senior Choir.
He was married to Lanie Mae Stevens Lorick and this union was blessed with five sons. They married on July 4, 1955 and made their home in the Washington and Maryland for a number of years and moved back to Saluda in 1974 to live. He was the first black Supervisor at SC Highway Department in Saluda. where he worked until he retired.
Curtis was a collector. He loved to rabbit hunt and grow sweet potatoes and he was know as the Sweet-potato Man. He touched many lives and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sons, Alcostella, John Henry and Curtis Orlanda Lorick; and his siblings, Henry Bell Lorick, Jessie Lorick, and Annie Ruth Lorick Graham.
He leaves to cherish and honor his memory; his devoted wife for 65 years, Lanie Mae Stevens Lorick of the home; two sons Jessie Frank Lorick and Darrick (Priscilla) Lorick both of Saluda, SC; ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; three brothers, Johnny Lee (Clara) Lorick of Greensboro,k NC, Hardy Lorick of Washington, DC, and Wilbert (Grace) Lorick of Johnston, SC; two sisters, Lucille (James) Pope and Mabel (George) Crouch both of Saluda, SC; five brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
A Graveside Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Rock Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with the pastor Reverend Herbert Martin officiating.
Viewing will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
