Curtis James Purnell

Chappells, SC: Curtis James Purnell, 66, passed away in San Antonio, TX, on Sunday, January 26, 2025. He was the nephew of Mary Frances Robinson who he lived with.

He was born on December 2, 1958 in Ocean City, MD, son of the late Hurley Purnell and the late Nora Mae Williams Purnell. He graduated from High School and joined the U S Marines and during his working life after serving in the Marines he was a Truck Driver. He was a DIE-HARD Philadelphia Eagles Fan.

He is survived by; brother, Michael Lewis Purnell of San Antonio, TX; son and four grandchildren; first cousins/like sisters, Edna (Rev. Jimmy) Jones, Indianapolis IN, Kattie Robinson of Greenwood, SC, Yolanda (Wallace) Martin of Plum Branch, SC and Pamela Robinson of Newberry, SC; aunts, Katie (Roosevelt) Wilson of Gaston, SC, Mary Frances Robinson of Chappells, SC, Jonell (Elliott) Jones of Baltimore, MD, Doris Jones and Novela banks both San Antonio, TX. Mary Williams and step-aunt, Lessie Blakey of Kinard, SC; special friend, Linda Murdock of Philadelphia, PA; nieces, nephews, other first cousins, relatives and friends.

The family will be receiving friends at the home of Mary Frances Robinson10315 Hollywood Road, Chappells, SC beginning Thursday 2/6/2025 in the afternoon.

Burial will be held 12 pm, Monday 2/10/2025 at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC.
