Dorothy Jean Smith

Glenside, Pa:  Dorothy Jean Smith, daughter of the late John Bell and Katie Jones Smith was born October 1, 1940, in Saluda, SC. She departed this earthly life on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at her home after a brief illness.

At an early age she joined the Lockhart Baptist Church in which she maintained her membership until her passing.

She received her education in the Public Schools of Schools of Saluda County, SC. A 1960 graduate of Riverside High School. Upon graduation, she relocated to Norristown, PA where she joined the Mount Zion AME Church. She was employed with the Abington Township School District for forty years.

She leaves to honor and cherish her memories: a son, Steven (Linda) Smith of Stone Mountain, GA ;two granddaughters, Rosheda Smith and Tensie Brooks; one great-grandson, Jordan Smith; her dear companion, Mr. John Kelly of Glenside, PA; two brothers, Willie Lee and Walter Bell Smith both of Saluda, SC. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family is at 6289 Fruit Hill Road, Saluda, SC.
