Dorothy Brown Warren
Richmond, VA: On October 29, 2021 Dorothy B Warren formerly of Edgefield, SC, entered into eternal rest at Henrico Doctors Hospital, Richmond, VA to a home free from pain, worry and suffering.
Dot, as she was affectionately called, was born the oldest child to the late John Thomas and the late Thelma P. Brown on May 5, 1946. At the age of four she moved back to Edgefield when she was raised in the home by her late grandmother, Nellie Phillips.
Dorothy joined Liberty Springs Baptist Church at the age of 12 under the leadership of the late Rev. E.J. Daniels. Upon her joining Liberty Springs, she was a member of the gospel chorus, a Sunday school teacher, church clerk, daycare aide. She also was a member of the church burial aide society, W.H, McCain Ensemble. She worked closely with the ministers of Union 3rd Division and the Association.
She was educated in the Edgefield County school system and graduated from Edgefield County Colored High School in May 1964. Upon graduating, Dorothy worked several jobs throughout her life at Kendall Mills, Greenwood Mills, Stone Manufacturing, Edgefield County Corridor, substitute teacher as well as dietary aide at Hanover Health in Richmond, VA. Dorothy retired on February 5, 2021.
On November 30, 1972 she was united in holy matrimony to the late Chris Warren, Jr. To this union three children were born.
She leaves to cherish her memories; two daughters, Paula Warren of Washington DC; Leslie Warren- Holmes of Edgefield, SC; and one son Chris Warren III of North Augusta, SC. Three brothers, William J Brown of Forestville, MD; Henry L Brown of Hyattsville, MD; and Kevin Phillips of Richmond, VA; One sister, Vertina Brown of Washington, DC.; Six grandchildren Makayla, Malachi, Micah, Mi'Riah, Mi'Randa and Mason all of Edgefield, SC; One brother in law, William Warren, Sr of Edgefield, SC; six sisters-in-law Blanche Brown of Hyattsville, MD; Thomasine Brown of Forestville, MD; Janie Stevens, Mary Warren, Lindie Warren, and Josie Warren all of Edgefield, SC. She also leaves to cherish her memories a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and other sorrowing family and friends.
Dorothy will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. Gone but will never be forgotten.
The family is at the home of her daughter, Leslie Warren-Holmes 225 Moores Road, Edgefield, SC.
A Celebration of her life will be 12 Noon Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Liberty Spring Baptist Church.
Viewing will be 1-6 p.m Friday 11/5/21 at the funeral home.
