Deacon Freddie Butler, Jr.
Saluda, SC: Deacon Freddie Butler, Jr., 87, of 472 Hickory Grove Road, the husband of Johnnie Mae Butler, peacefully entered into eternal rest, early Tuesday morning, January 26, 2021, at his home after declining health.
He was born in Saluda, SC, son of the late Aaron and Sophie Moore Butler. He received his education in the public schools of Saluda County, South Carolina.
At an early age, he joined the Mt. Enon Baptist Church where he was a faithful member serving as a Deacon and Choir Leader. He was a member Sons of Aide Lodge and he sang with the gospel group "The Souls of Joy" during the time of its existence. He worked in the textile Industry most of his working life and retired from the Adam Plant in Ninety Six, a Division of Greenwood Mills. Freddie hobbies was fishing and hunting.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Gladys B. McCarty and Daisy B. Matthews. He was the last survivor of his immediate family.
He leaves to cherish and honor his memory; his devoted wife, Johnnie Mae Butler of the home; two sons, Johnny Butler, Jr. and Marshall Butler both of the home; two daughters, Evelyn Werts and Corenthia Davenport both of Saluda. SC; an adopted daughter and her husband, Joe and Betty Butler Johnson of Saluda, SC; seven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, one great-great grand; a sister-in-law and three brothers-in-law; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
A Celebration of his life will 12 P.M. Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Mt. Enon Baptist Church Yard conducted by the pastor, Reverend Donnie R. Byrd with others assisting.
The family is at the home. Please practice social distancing and wear a mask will visiting and during the service.
