George Allen Clarke

Saluda. SC:   George Allen Clarke, 72, of 1783 Bonham Road, the husband of Vivian Gilliam Clarke, peacefully departed this life into eternal rest of Wednesday afternoon, June 28, 2023 at his home.

He was born in Saluda County, SC, January 14, 1951, son of the late Marion, Sr. and Carrie Bell Allen Clarke. He received his education in the public schools in Saluda County, SC. At an early age, he joined Willow Spring Baptist Church where he maintained his membership until his passing.  He was a retired employee of International Papers.

He was married to Vivian Gilliam Clarke. This union was blessed with four children.

In addition to her parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Albert Clarke, Marion Clarke, Jr, Johnny L. Clarke, Eddie B. Clarke, James S. Clarke, Freddie Clarke, Frank Jones and Catherine Clarke Abney.

He is survived by; his wife, Vivian Gilliam Clarke of the home; daughters, Sandra Clarke and Demetres Clarke of Saluda, SC; sons,  Michael (Bridget) Clarke of Greenwood, SC and Jermaine Clarke of Saluda, SC; brothers, Nathaniel Clarke and Sylvester Clarke both of Saluda, SC; sisters, Essie C. Lurk of Greenwood, SC and Carrie C. Richardson of Woodbridge, NJ; thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.

Celebration of Life will be 12 Noon on Monday, July 3, 2023 at Willow Spring Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Family viewing will be Sunday 2-3 p.m. and Public viewing will be 3-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
