Mrs. Gladys Portee Glover
Saluda, SC: Mrs. Gladys Portee Glover,99, of 103 Cedar Street, the widow of Willie Mack Glover, passed away at her home.
She was born in Harold, FLA, the daughter of the late Leslie and Emily Brunson Portee on March 29, 1921. She received her education in the public schools of Marianna, FLA.
She was a faithful member of Lockhart Baptist Church where she sang in the Senior Choir and Missionary Ministry. She was a life member of the NAACP and a member of Woman's Home Aide Society #126. She was a retired textile worker.
She was the last survivor of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Willie Mack Glover; son, Arthur Dewitt (Mickey) Glover; siblings,William and Ernest Portee, Arlena Myrick and Catherine Brown.
She leaves to cherish her memory; son, Sylvester Glover of Saluda, SC; four daughters, Jurlene Mobley, Greenwood, SC, Dorothy (Donnie) Wallace, Columbia, SC, Emily Patricia Sanders, Greenwood, SC and Mae Alice Glover, Saluda, SC; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren; two devoted friends, Burder Grimsley and Lois Gibson both of Saluda, SC; nieces, nephews and other relatives and sorrowing friends who will miss her dearly.
A Graveside Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Lockhart Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the pastor, Reverend Herman Jenkins.
Viewing will be 10 am to 7 pm Friday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.
