Sister Gracie Bell Wells Hendley, daughter of the late Otis Wells, Sr. and the late Mary Farrow Wells was born in Saluda, SC, on August 30, 1945. On Saturday afternoon, December 25, 2021, Gracie accepted her place with the Lord.
Gracie was educated in the Saluda public school System and received her high school diploma in 1973. At an early age, she joined Cross Road AME Church and after getting married, she joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. She was also a member of Woman's Home Aide Society Lodge #20.
She was married to Willie Lee Hendley who preceded her in death. This union was blessed with five children.
Gracie worked for many years with US Plywood and Quality Stitching Sewing Factory. She later started helping her husband manage their Trucking Business.
In addition to her mother and father, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lee Hendley, by two children, Donette and George Jr. Hendley and five siblings, Otis C. Wells, Williams Wells, Gennie M. Brunson, Otis Well, Jr. and Mack H. Wells.
Precious memories of Gracie will linger on in the hearts and minds of her children, son, Patrick M. Hendley (Michelle), Columbia, SC; two daughters, Inger Hendley-Martin (Reverend Herbert). Greenwood, SC, and Petula M. Hendley, Columbia, SC: two grandchildren; two brothers, Johnny Farrow Miles, Ninety-Six, SC and George D. Wells (Mary), Camden, SC; two sisters, Jannie Bell Wells, Aiken, SC and Dorothy W. Fields, Newberry, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family and sorrowing friends.
A Graveside Services Celebrating her Life will be 12 Noon Thursday, December 30, 2021 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Reverend Herbert H. Martin.
Public viewing will be 2-7 pm, Wednesday, 12/29/21 at the funeral home.
Please remember this family in prayer as they go through their hour of bereavement.
