Edgefield, SC: Gracie Helen Burton Lomax. of 1290A Long Cane Road, the wife of Herman Lomax, departed this life on Saturday, June 27, 2026, in Self Regional Healthcare.
She was born in Washington, DC, October 9, 1956, daughter of the late Bennie Lee Burton and the late Essie Dell Mathis Burton. She received her education in the public schools of Saluda County, South Carolina. Gracie walk with the Lord began at Piney Grove Holiness, Manna House and present church First Church of Augusta, GA.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, Bennie Leon Burton and Juanita B. Jones and other family members who have gone on before her.
Gracie leaves to cherish and honor her memory; her husband, Herman D. Lomax of the home; three daughters, Dominick Lomax, Greenville, SC, Seleste Lomax and Morianna Lomax both of Edgefield, SC; son Marquise Lomax of Greenville, SC; three grandchildren, Kyro Lomax, Alegaci Lomax and Aubrey Lomax; two brothers, Larry Burton of Edgefield, SC and Leroy Burton of Barnwell, SC; two sisters, Annette Burton of Edgefield, SC and Reverend Janet (Ricky) Corley of Trenton; stepbrother, Willie C. Brunson, Gilbert; stepsister, Jeroline Brunson of Ninety-Six, SC; sisters-in-law, Hattie Mae Burton, Denise McDowell, Sarah Hardy and Alice Rapley;
She also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends who will miss her dearly.
The family is at the home.
