Grover Moore, Jr., son of the late Josephine Moore and Grover Moore, Sr., was born on May 29, 1962, in New York. He transitioned from this earthly life on March 26, 2026. Grover was born and raised in New York and remained a lifelong resident of the city he called home.
Grover Jr. dedicated much of his life to working in the transportation industry. He drove tour buses for a private company in the Bronx and later transported food for airlines, faithfully serving in roles that helped move people and resources where they needed most. In later years, he worked with an agency that provided food for those in need, packaging meals and helping ensure that families facing difficult times had access to nourishment. His work reflected his caring spirit and deep compassion for others.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, when much of the world was on lockdown, Grover Jr. became a virtual member of Stover Chapel AME Church in Columbia, South Carolina. He attended services faithfully every Sunday and remained spiritually connected to the church community. Whenever he visited his father and sisters in South Carolina, he made it a priority to attend worship in person, assist with cleaning, and offer any help that was needed. His willingness to serve demonstrated his humble spirit and love for God’s house.
Grover Jr. was known as an advocate for the less fortunate, especially those in recovery. He had a heart for helping others and was always willing to give of himself to support those he loved. A God-fearing man, Grover lived his life with faith, kindness, and compassion. His positivity was contagious, and his presence brought encouragement and hope to those around him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine Moore, and his brother, Vaughn A. Moore.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving father, Groover Moore, Sr.; two devoted sisters, Cynthia A. Moore, currently serving in the U.S. Army and stationed in Kentucky, and Ronniesha U. Moore of Columbia, South Carolina, currently a student at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever treasure his life and legacy.
Grover Moore, Jr.’s life was a testament to faith, service, and love. Though he has transitioned from this life, his spirit of kindness, generosity, and devotion to God and family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
The family is at the home his father, 231 Sand Hurst Road, Columbia, SC.
