Henry Lee Abney

Harrisburg, PA:  Henry Lee Abney, 91, the widower of Catherine Clark Abney entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 12, 2023 in a local hospital.

Born in Saluda, SC, on October 5, 1931, son of the late Simmie, Sr. and Martha Gibson Abney. He received his education in the public schools of Saluda County, SC. He was a member of New Salem CME Church and a retired construction worker. 

In addition his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by; son, Cornell Abney and daughter Geraldine Abney Williams; siblings, James Abney, Tommie Abney, Lester Abney, Osie Abney, Simmie Abney, Jr. and Mary Ruth Stevens Williams.

He was the last survivor of his immediate family.

Leaving to honor and cherish his memories; daughters, Cathy A. Smith of Harrisburg, PA; Janice Pendergras and Etta Abney of Washington, DC; sons Marion H. Abney Jessie P. Abney Chester O. Abney and Laneford Abney all of Washington, DC; Twenty-three grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren; in-laws; nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.

A Celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2023 at Willow Spring Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.  The services will be officiated by Reverend Annette Mathis.

Viewing will be 2-6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
