Mrs. Inez Gibson Andrews
Irving, Texas: Inez Levorn Gibson Andrews was born on February 7, 1926 to Eddie Gibson and Mae Bell Dozier Gibson in St. Petersburg, Florida. She transitioned to eternal life on Sunday morning, February 23, 2020 after declining health. She was preceded in death by both her parents, and also siblings, Eddie Gibson, Mamie Brooks, John Gibson, and Mary Ella Gibson.
She was educated in Saluda County where she graduated from high school. Afterwards, she stayed in Columbia, S.C, North Carolina, and Aiken, S.C. After returning back home to Saluda, she married Curtis Andrews (who preceded her in death) and moved to New Jersey where she spent more than half of her life. In later years, she moved to Texas to be closer to her daughter.
Her home church was Rock Hill Baptist Church, but she became a member of Community Baptist Church in Paterson, N.J where she taught Sunday School and was the lead singer in the choir. She accepted Christ as her savior and became filled with the Holy Spirit singing solos under the anointing in which many people became saved! She was one of the main prayer warriors at church.
She and her husband were the first blacks to own a multi-unit home in New Jersey during the 1950s.
Her occupations were a dry cleaning Presser, a factory worker for a zipper company, a Housekeeper, and providing private duty home healthcare.
Inez loved life. She traveled abroad to many locations including Europe, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, The Bahamas, South America, Aruba, Santa Domingo, Hawaii, and an Alaskan cruise.
Inez touched so many lives and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and associates. She left wonderful memories for them to cherish in their hearts and minds forever.
She leaves to honor and cherish her memory; her daughter, Nina (Reginald) Titus of Irving, TX; one grandchild, Regina Titus; two brothers, James Gibson of Saluda, S.C and Frank (Anna) Gibson (nephew raised as a brother) of Burlington, NJ, one sister-in-law, Lois Gibson of Saluda, S.C. and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and neighbors who will miss her dearly.
A Celebration of her Life will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2020 at Rock Hill Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Herbert Martin. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.
