Mr. Ira Nuttry, Sr.
Columbia, SC: Mr. Ira Nuttry, Sr. was born November 20, 1934 in Saluda County, South Carolina.
Ira departed this life for Eternal Rest, Monday, August 31, 2020 to be with the Lord and his parents. Johnny and Jannie Nuttry awaiting him with open arms. Preceding him in death are two brothers, Johnny Peter Nuttry and Henry Dozier, also two sisters, Jannie Lou Nuttry Minick and Lula Mae Nuttry Bouknight.
Ira was known as a hardworking and humble man, and he was also known for his loving spirit.
He was employed by Uniroyal Rubber Company for thirty year, Stan Glo Industries for eighteen Years and finished his working career at Walmart for twenty years.
Ira attended school in Saluda County reaching high school.
Ira moved back to Columbia, SC twenty-five years ago to enjoy his life with his wife, Patricia Ann Nuttry of sixty-two years.
He was a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church for many years. Later he became a member of the Rock Hill Baptist Church where he sang on the choir and served in the church.
Ira loved his family with an outstanding gift of love. He was a loving father and faithful husband that led his family with humility and love. Ira led his life quietly.
He didn't complain but exemplified his love by his actions. He was willing to help anyone. While diligently caring for his wife with dedication and love with patience.
He also loved tending to his garden, grooming his yard and reading his bible.
Ira was not only a church member but a true servant of Christ.
Ira leaves to cherish precious memories and special moments; his wife , Patricia Ann Nuttry of Columbia, SC; children son, Ira Nuttry, Jr. (Susie); daughter, MoniQue Nuttry (friend - Carmen Mendez); surviving brother, Freddie Nuttry (Peggy) of Fort Worth, TX; Ira also leaves to mourn his passing, four grandchildren, David Nuttry, TeKwan Nuttry, Danielle Nuttry and Kiewan Shiver; seven great grandchildren; a special niece, Jannie Minick Walker of Bridgeport, CT; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
Graveside Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Rock Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 130 Rock Hill Road, Saluda, SC, conducted by Reverend Ira Nuttry, Jr.
Family only Viewing 1-2 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pulbic viewing will be 2-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
