Irene Crouch Gray Holmes

Saluda, SC:  Irene Crouch Gray Holmes, 86, of 145 Dry Gulch Road, transition from this life into eternal rest Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at her home.

She was born in Edgefield, SC, June 6, 1939, daughter of the late Elma Crouch and she was raised in the home of the late Taffy and Annie Gray. At an early age, she joined Willow Spring Baptist Church and later in life she became a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She received her education in the public schools of Edgefield,  SC.  Irene worked as a Domestic Worker, most of her work was in her own home.

In addition to her mother, adopted parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Holmes, Sr., son, Taffy Holmes, her siblings, Frances Brown, Wash Abney, Jr and Johnny Gray.

She was the last survivor of her immediate family.

She leaves to honor and cherish her memory; sons, Wiley Holmes, Jr., Alex Holmes, Willie J. Holmes and Lewis Holmes all of Saluda, SC; daughters, Annie Maxfield, Mary R. Holmes, Irene H. Holmes all of Saluda, SC and Barbara (Gerald) Harris of Lexington, SC;  twenty-seven grandchildren, fifty-two great grandchildren and sixteen great-great grandchildren; her survivors also includes, one aunt, Melissa Dukes of New York; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Holmes of Johnston, SC and Sarah Holmes of Aiken, SC; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

The Family is at the home.
