Saluda, SC: Deacon James Henry Pace transition to his heavenly home on Thursday October 17, 2024 in Self Regional Medical Center after declining health.
He was born in Saluda, SC, December 7, 1937, son of the late Ernest Chapman and the late Bessie Bell Anderson Pace and step-father Foster Pace.
He received his education in the public schools of Saluda County, SC. He joined Young Mt. Zion Baptist Church at an early age. Early in life moved to Philadelphia, Pa where he lived many years. During his working life he worked as a truck driver and also a bus driver until his he retired. He moved back to Saluda to live he united with Mt. Enon Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Senior Choir member and former Church Sexton.
In addition to his parents and stepfather, he was also preceded in death by sons, James Davenport and Timothy Pac; siblings, Willie Mack Pace, Harry Pace, Bennie Pace, Robert Lee Pace, Hellen Stevenson and Ray Highsmith.
He is survived by; sons, Bobby Pace and Reginald Pace of Philadelphia, PA; daughter, Geneva Pace of Philadelphia, PA; twenty-one grandchildren and six step-grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene Pace and Stevie Pace both of Philadelphia, PA; sisters, Marie Pace, Philadelphia, PA and Johnny Mae Butler, Saluda, SC; in-laws; special niece/caretaker, Evelyn B. Werts. Saluda, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family is at the home of his sister, Johnnie Mae Butler 472 Hickory Grove Road, Saluda, SC.
