Joanne Gallman Nelson

Saluda, SC:  Joanne Gallman Nelson, the widow of Raymond Nelson passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at Newberry Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Prosperity, SC, June 16, 1950, daughter of the late Bennie Ray and Mary Cannon Gallman. She received her education in the public schools of Newberry County, SC.  She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and the WHAS #126. 

Joanne was quite and kept to herself and she had a beautiful smile. She will be dearly missed by her family  and all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by siblings. Alfred Gallman, Willie Bates, Emma Herbert, Bessie Lee Dewalt, Azalee Gallman, and Lula Mae Walker.

She leaves to honor and cherish her memory; daughter, Roxie Nelson Williams of Prosperity, SC; sons Vincent Leon (Connie) Gallman and Dexter Maurice Gallman both of Newberry, SC, Bennie Kendell Nelson of W. Columbia, SC, Ira Kenneth Nelson and Raymond Nelson, Jr. both of Saluda, SC; four grandchildren; one sister, Mary Wise of Prosperity, SC; sister-in-law Essie Nelson of Greenwood, SC; brother-in-law, Joseph Nelson of Lexington, SC; two aunts, Mary Alice Rikard and Ada Mae Cannon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends

The family is at the home of her daughter, 3245 Mt.  Pilgrim Church Road, Prosperity, SC.
