Batesburg, SC: John B. (Big Boy) Pickens of 428 Duncan St., the husband of Rosie Rauch Pickens passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024 in Lexington Medical Center.
He was born in Saluda County, SC, June 28, 1954, son of Mattie Bell Henley Pickens and the late Johnnie B. Picken. He received his education in the public schools of Batesburg, SC. At an early age, he joined the Philippi Baptist Church where he once served as a trustee. Most of his working life he worked as a painter in commercial and residential. He loved drag racing during his spare time he would be at the Racetrack. Not only did he loved racing, he also loved those Pittsburgh Steelers (black and gold).
In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Pickens and Randall Rauch and brother, Willie Lee Lytes.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Rosie Rauch Pickens of the home; his mother, Mattie Bell Pickens of Leesville, SC; son Chris (Kyeisha) Pickens of Batesburg, SC; daughter, Shannon Pickens of Batesburg, SC; Nine grandchildren, one great grand; daughter-i-law, Lisa Rauch of Red Bank, SC; brothers, Allen Pickens, James Pickens (Christine), Frank Pickens and Joseph Lytes all of Leesville, SC; sisters, Johnnie Mae Hartley (Lawrence) of Lexington, SC, Carolina Cannon and Nancy Pickens of Leesville, SC; two brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law; three uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family is at the home and the home of his mother in Leesville, SC.
