Lakevia Long Jones
Johnston, SC: Lakevia Jawanila Long Jones of 738 Lee Street, the wife of Kevin Jones, transitioned from this life into eternal rest, Sunday, February 21, 2021, in Aiken Regional Medical Center.
She was born November 15, 1982 in Greenwood, SC, daughter of April Gerine Long and Willie West. She was raised in the home of Freddie and Rosa Mae Black.
She received her education in the public schools of Edgefield County, South Carolina graduating from Strom Thurmond High School in 2002.
At an early age, she joined Pine Hill Baptist Church where she was a part of the Youth Department and the choir. Later in life, she became a member of House of Fire Worship Center, Johnston, SC where she served faithfully in Ministry, Choir and a Prayer Warrior. She was also a member of the Woman's Home Aide Society #126. During her working life she worked as a Cashier at various stores.
Kevia as she was affectionately called was a nice and Caring person. She would give her last to anyone. She never let the bad get her down she always stayed positive through her rough times. She loved God. You couldn’t have a conversation with her without her saying something about God. She was smart and she had a big heart. She loved to look mean, she would literally knock your head off if you did something wrong. She always loved her some kids, every kid came to her house can say they got treated right. She treated every kid like they were her own.
Kevia was preceded in death by Rosa Mae Black (like a mother who raised her) and her paternal grandmother, Ida Mae West Clark,
Kevia leaves to cherish and honor her memory; her husband, Kevin Jones of the home; two children, Kevon Jones and Akeidra Elmore both of the home; her mother, April G. Long of Johnston, SC, her father and stepmother, Willie and Ann West of Johnston, SC; Freddie Black (like a father) of Johnston, SC; sisters, Tamika Merriweather of Johnston, SC, Camika Merriweather and Melinda Merriweather both of Saluda, SC, Latisha M. West of Greenville, SC and Jamila Merrriweather of Edgefield, SC; brother, Jimmy Merriweather of Edgefield, SC; step-brother, Denard Bryant, of Trenton, SC; Maternal grandparents, Lora Lurk of Saluda, SC and Major (Patricia) West of Batesburg, SC; in-laws; eight aunts, eleven uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends who will miss her dearly.
