Landrum “Bo” Patten
Landrum Patten affectionately known to many as “Bo”, age 86, of Blythewood, SC, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, surrounded by his family after a brief illness.
Landrum was the third of seven children born on November 21, 1939 in Edgefield, SC to the late Willie Patten Sr. and Mamie Landrum Patten.
Landrum (Bo) was educated in the Edgefield County school system.
Landrum relocated from Edgefield to Boston, MA in 1962. He later married his wife Barbara in 1965 and to this union four children were born. He was baptized on June 30, 1979 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
He held a number of jobs including Lounge Manufacturing, family owned BBQ Restaurant where he grilled his famous tender ribs, General Motors. He finished his work journey retiring from BJ’s Wholesale club as a Tire Supervisor.
Landrum had a passion for outdoor activities including his most passionate one, gardening. He spent countless hours perfecting his love for gardening and enjoyed sharing his crops with family, friends and neighbors.
After 52 years in Boston he relocated back to South Carolina in 2014 where he continued his passion for gardening and outdoor activities.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara; his four children Sheila Golden, Saundra Page (James), Stacey Patten and Landrum (Greg) Patten. Two grandchildren Justin Patten-Colston (Quineisha) and Zahria Patten-Williams. Two great-grandchildren Nia Patten-Colston and Nyla Patten-Colston. One sister Bernice Settles, two brothers, George Patten and Willie Patten Jr. (Lunette). Four brothers-in-law Navon Settles (Betty), Ronnie Settles (Annie), Jerome Settles (Linda), William Fuller. Sisters-in-Law; Syneta Gilchrist and Debra White as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. Sadie Mae Gordon, Marian Pierce and Yvonne Patten; one brother in law, McArthur Settles and one Sister-in-law Blandenia Fuller.
