Saluda, SC: Laura Ann Wright, 111, of 100 Pine Street, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Agape Hospice & Suites, Lexington, SC
She was born in Saluda County, SC, the eldest of 12 children born to the late Joseph and Ada Culbreath Wright on June 15, 1906.
She received her in education the public schools of Saluda County, SC, where she graduated from Saluda Rosenwald School and did further training to become a teacher at Bettis Academy, a Junior College of Edgefield County, SC. She was a retired school teacher. She taught for many years in the rural schools of Saluda County and retired from Riverside in the mid 60's.
At an early she, joined the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she was a faithful member. In recent years her health decline and she could not attend church but her faith was still strong in God's Word. She was also a member of the WHAS #113, where she once served as president.
in addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by; siblings, Wilbur Wright, Eddie Wright, Mitchell Wright, Sr., Joe Ben Wright, Thomas Wright, Effie Mae Hill, Mattie W. Coleman, Eliza Bell Wright, Thelma W. Triplin and Christine Wright.
Leaving to honor and cherish her memory; sister, Annie Belle Chappelle of Greenwood, SC: dedicated niece, Bernita Wright of Garner, NC; other dedicated nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and other relatives and sorrowing friends.
Celebration of her Life will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church conducted by the pastor, Reverend Richard Jackson with others assisting. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 12 Noon.
