Mable Tolbert Ouzts
Greenwood, SC: Mable Tolbert Ouzts, formerly of 205 Ouzts Morton Road, Plum Branch the wife of Curtis Ouzts, Sr., departed this life on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 in Self Regional Healthcare.
She was born April 12, 1935, in McCormick, SC, daughter of the late Joe Tolbert, Sr. and the late Gustand Garrett Tolbert. She received her education in the public schools of McCormick, South Carolina. At an early age, she joined Mt. Moriah Baptist Church where she was a faithful member. She was a former member of Mt. Moriah Gospel Chorus, and Deaconess and affiliated with other organizations. She was a retired employee of Greenwood Mills (Durst Plant).
In addition to her parents; she was also preceded in death by siblings, Elijah Tolbert, Queen E. Jones, Lugene Green and Jenell Ryhnes.
She leaves cherish her memory; her husband for 66 years, Curtis Ouzts, Sr., Greenwood, SC; three daughters, Hazel J. Anderson of Greenwood, SC, Christine Ouzts of Lanham, MD and Janie Ree Talbert of Edgefield, SC; son, Curtis (Lotretta) Ouzts of Greenwood, SC; three grandchildren, Keyonna Anderson, Brandon Thomas and Nigel Ouzts; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Louise (David) Yeldell of McCormick, SC and Daisy Carter of Belvedere, SC; brothers, Johnny (Wilhemenia) Tolbert and Jonathan (Joan) Tolbert both of Plum Branch, SC; four sisters-in-law, Emma Lou Gilchrist, Edgefield, SC, and Effie L. Stevens, McCormick, SC, Daisy Mae Ouzts Reed and Ida M. Tolbert, Plum Branch, SC; Washington, brother-in-law, Willie (Mary) Ouzts, Edgefield, SC; Barbara Ann Yeldell (niece reared in home like a daughter), Edgefield, SC; god-daughter, Regina Gilliam, Hephzibah, GA; devoted cousin, Paulette Settles, McCormick, SC; devoted friend, Bessie Jones, Greenwood, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
Celebration of life will be 1 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church conducted by the pastor Reverend Melvin Gordon, Eulogist and Reverend Eddie Freeman, presiding and others assisting. The body will be placed in the church at Noon.
Family viewing will be 1-2 p.m. Saturday and Public Viewing will be 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
