Deaconess Marjorie Gray Miles

Washington, DC:  Deaconess Marjorie Miles or “Betty” as she is affectionately known by her family, was born in Saluda County, SC. From the union of the late Willie and Bennie Lee “Honey” Gray.

She received her education in Saluda County Public Schools. At an early age she gave her life to Christ and joined Mine Creek Baptist Church where she served the lord until she moved to Washington, DC.

Marjorie later relocated to Washington, Dc where she worked varies jobs until she retired. She enjoyed raising her children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and spending time with her neighbors, friends and going on bus trips. She loved her family and friends and would do anything for them. She loved her Betty Boop. she was also a dedicated “Washington Red Skin” fan.

In 2002 she rededicated her life to the Lord at Prepared Table Ministries for Christ under the leadership of the late Apostle Edward A. Smith. She served on the Deaconess Ministry, Choir Ministry, and played the guitar on the music ministry Marjorie was the “Mother of the Church.” Deaconess Marjorie was dedicated and committed to serving and supporting the ministries in which she was a part of.

She was preceded in death by both parents, one son Eric Miles, Three brothers, and four sisters.

She leaves to honor and cherish her memories six children, Kenneth L. Gray of Johnston, SC, Thomas L. Gray of Washington DC, Zina M. Grimes (Rodney) of Oxon Hill, MD., Vikki Gray of Washington, DC., Charlene E. Miles of Stone Mountain, GA, Charles E. Miles of Washington, DC., Three sister, Mildred Gray of Johnston, SC., Nellie G. Smith, Columbus, GA., Sarah Richardson of Saluda, SC., One brother James A. Gray (Gail) of Seat Pleasant, Grandchildren, Great grandchildren A special friend Bernard Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.

Capitol Mortuary assisted the family in Washington, DC.

Butler and Sons Funeral Home is assisting the Family locally.
