Mrs. Martha Higgins Buter
Edgefield, SC: Mrs. Martha Higgins Butler, 87, of 191 W.A. Reel Drive, the widow of Willie David (WD) Butler, passed away on Saturday, at her home. She was born in Greenwood County, SC, daughter of the late Luellen Sr. and Lula Brunson Higgins.

Martha was married to the late Willie David (WD) Butler and this union was blessed with twelve children, a son, Franklin Butler, preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Pleasant Lane Baptist Church where she was a member of the Senior Choir, Missionary and Pastor's Aide. She was a former member of the Springfield Singing Convention Shape Note Choir.  She loved to cook and her favorite professional baseball team was the Atlanta Braves.

She was preceded in death by siblings, James Higgins, Charles Higgins, Luellen Higgins, Jr., Bernice Quarles, Johnnie Mae Peterson, Alma Hamilton, and Willie R. Nash and stepson, Robert Carroll.

Leaving to honor and cherish her memories; daughters, Juanita Drumming, Lavern Butler and Debra Butler all of Edgefield, SC, Helen (John) Jefferson and Maurice Butler of Aiken, SC and Wanda (Dale) Glanton of Johnston, SC; sons, Bernard Butler, Willie (Linda) Butler and Carl Butler all of Edgefield, SC, Glenn (Jeraldene) Butler of Colonia Beach, VA and Jeffery Butler of Cayce, SC; sister, Christine H. Nelson of Greenwood, SC; 22 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Rosa Carroll and Mary Butler; sister-in-law, Christine Franklin; and other relatives and friends.

Homegoing Celebration will be 12 Noon Thursday at Pleasant Lane Baptist Church conducted by by Reverend Eric Butler with burial in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m.   Public viewing will be 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
