Martha Mae Williams Lawson

Edgefield, SC:   Martha Mae Williams Lawson, 84, departed this life on Monday, January 23, 2023 in Agape Hospice House, Lexington, SC, after declining health.

She was born on March 27, 1938 to the late Ruby and Nicodemus Williams in Edgefield County SC.  She was educated in the Edgefield county school system.  She moved to New York at a very young age and resided in Cape May, New Jersey for over 50 years. While in New Jersey, she joined Christ Gospel Love Center in Whiteboro NJ. She served as a church Mother and a member of the Shepard’s Ministry.   Her Pastor is Bishop Edgar D Robinson.   She worked for over 35 years with county of New Jersey Cresthaven Rehabilitation and retired as a Supervisor of Housekeeping. After her retirement, she continued work in the home of Attorney Henry Gorelick for a number of years.  Over the years, she enjoyed gardening as her home was displayed with many beautiful arrays of flowers.  She shared her talent with the church and would often assist with maintaining the premise. Upon her declining health, she relocated back to Edgefield county in October 2021.  During this time, she was under the care of a special niece, Cheryl Samuel.  She resided in the Samuel’s home until her death.

She leaves to cherish her memories two sisters, Ms. Fannie Mae Jones of Greenwood SC, Ms. Eva Marie Williams of New York; two brothers Nick Williams of Edgefield SC, Jessie Williams (Brenda)  Saluda SC, one sister-law Alma Williams of Edgefield SC;   And a host of Nieces, Nephews, relatives and friends.

The family will be receiving friends at the home of her niece, Cheryl Samuel, 201 Adams Road, beginnig Wednesday, January 25,2023.  When you visit or attending the services please wear a mask or face covering.

Homegoing services will be 12:00 P.M.. Saturday, January 25, 2023 at Piney Grove Holiness Church with burial in the church cemetery.  The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m.

Family viewing will be Friday 10-11 a.m. public viewing will be 11-5 p.m. at the home.
