Saluda, SC:  Mattie Mae Clark Dewalt Hill, 85, of 205 Denny Highway the wife of Carl Hill passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022 in Self Regional Healthcare.

She was born in Saluda, SC, August 16, 1935, daughter of the late James Clark and the late Sue Anna Coleman Clark Shealy.  She was a member of Wateree AME Church and Woman's Home Aide Society.  She received her education in the public schools of Saluda County, South Carolina.  She was a CNA and she worked at different nursing home and did private duty services.

In addition to her parents, she was ;also preceded in death by her son, George Wallace, daughter, Gayle Dewalt and sister, Willie Ray Chappells.

Mattie leaves to cherish and honor her memory; her husband, Carl D. Hill of the home; daughter, Cynthia (Bishop Gregory) Cannon of North Augusta, SC; two grandchildren, Crystal Devalt and Destiny Wallace; six great grands; two sisters, Mamie Lee Tolen, Saluda, SC and Sudie Glasco, Prosperity, SC; step-children, Fred Curry, Aiken, SC, Carl Farrow (Diesha), Greensboro, NC, Shawn Farrow (Nikita) Saluda, SC and Candace Hill of Laurens, SC; fourteen step-grandchildren, seven step-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends who will miss her dearly.

Celebration of her Life will be 1 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2022 at Wateree AME Church conducted by Reverend Stephanie Pratt, presiding and Bishop Gregory S. Cannon - Eulogist and others assisting.  The body will be placed in the church at 12 Noon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Family viewing will be  1-2 p.m. Thursday and public vieiwing will be 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
