Melvin Minick, Sr.
Saluda, SC: Melvin Minick, Sr. 71, of 206 Catfish Road, the husband of Cynthia A. Minick, died on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at McCormick Post Acute, McCormick, SC.
He was born in Saluda County, SC, on July 28, 1950, son of the late Willie and Ruthell Mobley Minick Mason. H received his education in the public schools of Saluda, South Carolina.
At an early age, he joined Rock Hill Baptist Church and later after his marriage, he became a member of New Salem CME Church where he was a former Trustee. He was married to the former Cynthia Anderson. To this union two children were born, his son Melvin Minick, Jr. preceded him in death. He was a member of the Sons of Aide and Mine Creek Burial Aide Society. He was a retired Machine Operator in the Textile Industry.
Melvin was a loving husband and father He loved to raise chickens, hogs, dogs, love to hunt and was an avid gardener. He was a member of the Wolfpack Hunting Club. Most of all Melvin loved this family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and son; he was also preceded in death by a brother, Lester Minick.
Those left to mourn and honor his memory, his wife, Cynthia A. Minick of the home; daughters, Kelly (Shawn, Sr) Price of McBee, SC and Doris (L.C.) Morris of Saluda, SC; seven grandchildren, one great grand; brother, Tony (Betty) Minick of Saluda, SC; sisters, Ida Mae Delores Minick, Kentland, MD, Ann Anderson, Leila A. Dunn, Willie Jean Minick, and Shirley Minick all of Saluda, SC; daughter-in-law, Abena Minick of Saluda, SC; stepbrothers, Charles (Tonya) Booker, Kentland, MD and Eric Booker of North Carolina; stepsister, Deatrice Mason, Kentland, MD; special friend, Robert Coleman, Saluda, SC; four brothers-in-law, Charles (Barbara) Abney and Stanley Holloway of Saluda, SC, Roscoe Dunn of North Carolina and Andy Anderson of Kentland, MD; two sisters-in-law, Wilhelmenia McField, Washington, DC and Judy Minick, Newberry, SC; five aunts-in-law, two uncles-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
A Graveside Service Celebrating his Life will be 12 Noon Sunday, February 6, 2022 at New Salem CME Church Cemetery with the pastor, Reverend Samuel Moses presiding and Reverend Richard Wilson, the Eulogist, others will be assisting. Viewing will be one hour before the service.
Viewing will be 11 am to 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home, 206 Catfish Road, Saluda, SC.
