Saluda, SC: Minister Catherine Johnson Smith of 1536 Old Gassaway Road, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at her home.
She was born in Saluda County, SC, March 7, 1957, daughter of the late Betty Jean Johnson. She was a 1975 graduate of Saluda High School. At an early age, she joined Mine Creek Baptist Church where she was a faithful member and was ordained as a Minister under the leadership of the former pastor, Reverend George Key. Catherine was also a member of Mine Creek Burial Aide Society and Woman's Home Aide Society. She was employed by Milliken (Saluda Plant) and once it closed, she continued with Milliken at the Johnston Plant until she retired.
In addition to her mother, she was also preceded in death by siblings, Jimmy Johnson and Eddie F. Smith (Peanut).
Those who are left to cherish and honor her memory; daughter, LaShonda Smith Partlow of Greenwood, SC; sons, Travis M. Smith of Hephzibah, GA and Kevin Smith (Shakeyshia Harling) of Simpsonville, SC; three grandchildren, Amiah Partlow, Makia R. Smith and Kendrix Smith; brother, Johnny Johnson of Saluda, SC; one sister, Adquanetta (Clifton) Jones of Aiken, SC and half-sister, Bessie Lee Daniels of Lexington, SC; aunts, Vickie Johnson and Dorothy Johnson; uncles, Robert Johnson, Bennie (Lucinda) Johnson, Ricky Johnson and Vannie Williams all of Saluda, SC; great aunt, Elester Bletcher; nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends who will miss her dearly.
