Ollie Hall Obituary

Deacon Ollie Dwight Hall, affectionately known as "Dwight," passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025, at the home of his daughter Tonya and son-in-law Ruben in Charlotte, NC.  He was born on October 24, 1947, in Edgefield County, South Carolina, to the late Pollard Hall, Jr., and Margaret Hart Hall.

A proud Vietnam veteran, Dwight served his country with honor and distinction. During his military service as a Communication Specialist, he earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Sharpshooter Badge. After returning home, he dedicated his life to public service in Edgefield County, working as a police officer, sheriff's deputy, and bailiff.

Dwight was the beloved husband of Emmie Mae Bryant Hall and a devoted father to Tonya Hall Johnson. He was also a proud grandfather to Endia E. Johnson and Krisette M. Johnson, who brought him immense joy throughout his life.

Dwight was preceded in death by his brothers Fred Hart, Charles Hall, Joseph Hall, and Jesse Hall. He is survived by his wife, Emmie Bryant Hall; daughter Tonya Hall Johnson (Ruben); and two granddaughters, Endia Johnson and Krisette Johnson of Charlotte, NC.  His sisters survive him: Kathy H. Oliphant (Robert) of Johnston, SC; Mamie "Doll" Jerry (Charlie) of Columbia, SC; Margaret Yvonne Foster (Pastor Richard) of La Plata, Maryland; and Sandra "Sand" Sutton of Johnston, SC, and his loving Chihuahua Queen.

He is also survived by his sisters-in-law: Daretha Bryant of Columbia, SC; Lucille B. Mims (Byron) of Saluda, SC; Julia B. Smith (Bishop Alvin) of Saluda, SC; Pearl Bryant of Columbia, SC; Jannie Taylor (Clint) of Aiken, SC, Hannah McManus (Richard) of Orangeburg, SC and Rosetta Hall of Johnston, SC.

His brothers-in-law include Isaiah Bryant of Saluda, SC, and Aaron Levi Bryant (Marquis) of Johnston, SC. A special nephew, Allen Oliphant of North Augusta, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other close relatives and friends also survive him.

Born and raised in Edgefield County, South Carolina, Dwight spent his life deeply rooted in the community he cherished. He worked diligently and found fulfillment in the simple pleasures of life. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, pastimes that connected him to nature and brought him peace. Above all, Dwight treasured time spent with his family and found great joy in their company. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was a dedicated member of Rosa Spring Baptist Church.

A celebration of Dwight’s life will be held at noon on February 1, 2025, at Rosa Spring Baptist Church in Johnston, South Carolina. Family and friends will gather to honor his memory and reflect on the love and kindness he shared with all who knew him.

Dwight’s legacy embodies faith, family, and a profound appreciation for life’s blessings. May his memory provide comfort to all who loved him.

The family will be receiving friends at the home his wife, Emmie Bryant-Hall, 1952 Larkin Rice Road, Saluda, SC 29138.

He will be honored with Military Honors at Sunset Gardens Memorial Cemetery.
