Mrs. Queen Isabella Andrews Cothran
Johnston, SC: Mrs. Queen Isabella Andrews Cothran of 587 Old Chappell Ferry Road, Johnston, SC, departed this life on Sunday night, October 22, 2017 at her home.
She was born in Saluda County, SC, on May 10, 1924. Queen was the fifth child born to the late Walter Andrews and the late Sallie Weaver Andrews. She received her education in the public schools of Saluda and Edgefield Counties of South Carolina.
At an early age, she joined the Mine Creek Baptist Church where she was a faithful member. Queen served in the Senior Choir, Missionary Society, Burial Society, Deaconess Board and attended Sunday School and Worship Service until her passing. She loved her church and her church loved her.
Queen was united in holy wedlock, February 13, 1944, to Paris “PJ” Cothran, Sr. who preceded her in death. This union was blessed with three children, son and two daughters. The son, Paris Cothran Jr., also preceded her in death.
Queen was known to hum and sing hymns when doing her chores.  She enjoyed cooking and always wanted you to have enough to eat. Queen loved the Lord. She was adamant about the importance of family and has remained the Matriarch of the family for many years.
One of Queen’s favorite past times was to talk about her memories when growing up. She spent her childhood with her siblings Florine “Nan”, Carrie Mae “Mutt”, Carl “Cal”, Booker T and Walter Jr. “Walt” who all have passed and await  her in eternal life, along with her parents, husband and son. She was the last surviving child to her parents.
Queen leaves to cherish her fond memories; two daughters, Barbara Williams of Johnston, SC and Farrie (Clarence) Bluford of Silver Street, SC; a devoted daughter-in-law, Dora Cothran of Johnston, SC; eight  grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Andrews; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends.

Homegoing Celebration will be 2 p.m. Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the Willow Spring Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Reverend Jimmy Gilchrist will be the eulogist with other ministers assisting.  The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
