RET SFC Harold Bevely Whitted, Sr.
McCormick, SC; RET SFC Harold Bevely Whitted, Sr. was born May 11, 1938 in Lynchburg, VA, the son of the late Sarah Whitted and Benjamin Elliott. He departed his life on June 7, 2022 at his home in Edgefield, SC following a short illness.
Harold was baptized at an early age at 8th Street Baptist Church, Lynchburg, VA and was a long-time standing member of Liberty Spring Baptist Church. He was actively involved in church as a Sunday School teacher, prior to his illness.
Harold was united in holy matrimony to Mildred Beatrice Whitted (Gilchrist). Out of their union, one son and one daughter were born.
Harold was educated in Yonder Elementary, Payne School and Dunbar High School in Lynchburg, VA. Harold enlisted and served in the US Army from 1956 to 1976. He retired as SGT First Class Aviation Weapons Specialist on Hunter Army Airfield, Ft. Stewart, Georgia. After retiring from the military. Harold was employed and retired from the South Carolina Employment Security Commission, Greenwood, SC. Harold volunteered as a Mentor at W.E. Parker Elementary School. He worked several years at the election poll.
In additon to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, and siblings, James, Earl, Hillary, Adeliade, Evelyn and Arrie.
Harold leaves to cherish and honor his memory; devoted daughter and son, daughter, Constance (Charles) Clark and son, Harold B. Whitted, Jr.(Sonya) both of Crestview, FL; grandchildren, Derian (Alexeu), Darius (Meshala) Charles (Kenyota), Adrian, Remy and April; one great grand, Braylen; sister, Marion (Roosevelt) Goode of Maryland; sister-in-law, Melrose (John) Garner of Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends who will miss him dearly.
A Celebration of his Life will be 12 Noon Thursday, June16, 2022 at Liberty Spring Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Henry Merriweather - Eulogist, Reverend Derrick Scott - Presiding, assisting will be Reverend Jimmy Gilchrist, Reverend Kavin Bobbitt and Reverend Keith Gordon. The body will placed in the church at 11 a.m.
Viewing will be 1-6 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday.
