Reverend Christopher Lee Burton
Johnston, SC: Reverend Christopher Lee Burton departed this life Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at AU Health in Augusta, GA surrounded by his loving family.
Born on May 23, 1972 in Greenwood, SC he is the son of Bishop Henry Lee Burton and the late Reverend Essie Mae Luchie Burton. Chris received his education in the public schools of Saluda County and was a 1991 graduate of Saluda High School. He furthered his education and received his Associate Degree in Engineering Graphics Designs from Piedmont Technical College, his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from South Carolina State University and his Master’s Degree in Business Management from Southern Wesleyan University. He was employed by Aiken Technical College as an instructor.
Reverend Christopher Lee Burton devoted his life to Christ at an early age joining Piney Grove in Edgefield, SC. He began preaching God’s word at the early age of 25. He held numerous positions in the church including Sunday School Teacher, Minister of Music, Youth President, and Assistant Pastor. In November of 2022 he was appointed the Pastor of Strong Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in Ninety-Six, SC and appointed as the Elder of the Mount Tabernacle Pentecostal Church Inc. In his spare time Reverend Burton enjoyed woodworking and playing his keyboard. He was the keyboardist for the Brewstaires and the Radio Angels from Johnston and enjoyed traveling around spreading the gift of music. He was truly the jokester of the family and enjoyed making people laugh.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of nearly 28 years, Minister Windie Burton, one son, Christopher “Cory” Burton of Belton, SC and one daughter, Sabrina Shantel Burton of Johnston, SC. His father Bishop Henry Lee (Ruby) Burton of Saluda, SC, four brothers Henry-FitzGerald (LaTonya) Burton of Saluda, SC, Patrick (Shemeaka) Burton of Saluda, SC, Henry Lee (Dee) Bush of Colorado, Jacob (Leslie) Anderson of Lexington, SC, one sister Michelle Burton Bennett, of Columbia, SC. One step-brother, Alvin (Debora) Dukes of Plant City, FL and one step-sister Andrea (Samuel) Stevens of Edgefield, SC, two brothers-in-law, Stanley Weaver, Mosspoint, MS and Michael Ingram, Windsor, SC, one sister-in-law, Selina Ingram, Aiken, SC and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, close relatives and sorrowing friends.
The family is at the home.
